Who am I? What is my plan?

Welcome. My name is Tim Weninger, I am a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign under the direction of Dr. Jiawei Han. I recently graduated with my Master of Science degree in December of 2008, from Kansas State University. After graduate school I hope to find a job as a research scientist or teach computer science or both.

What am I doing?

Currently, I am a student and resercher in the Data Mining Research Group the University of Illinois working on problems in relationships between entities found in structured and unstructured data.

I am married to Jordan (Vieyra) Weninger. She is also a recent graduate of K-State, with a degree in Music Education.

I find time to stay involved in several activities on campus and abroad. My CV describes lots of things, but I mostly have fun when I spend time with Jordan, watch movies or converse with friends.

In my limited spare time I disassemble things and fix them, even if they're not broken. I also keep fairly involved in politics. I consider myself a constitutional moderate, Jeffersonian Republican.

How can you reach me?

I respond fairly quickly to emails sent to weninge1@illinois.edu, and I always have my cell phone on at 620.664.7020. I maintain an office at the Siebel Center for Computer Science in Urbana, IL, and I can sometimes be contacted with GTalk instant messenger system via tweninger@gmail.com. You'll also find me on Facebook and LiveJournal, but I have an aversion to blog-sites, so I rarely check my accounts.
