Project Title
Depth Fusion and Tracking plugin for XR System

Biography & Research Abstract

Abstract:

Illinois Extended Reality Tested (or ILLIXR) provides an open source XR system for research and developing. ILLIXR comprises a wide variety of different plugins that add functionalities to the system such as SLAM, pose prediction, tracking,… For my project, I develop a depth fusion and tracking plugin for ILLIXR, which is necessary for 3D reconstruction and scene understanding, from Oxford University’s open-source InfiniTAM framework.

Bio:

Hi! My name is Henry Che and I'm a freshman majoring in Computer Engineering. I am originally from Vietnam but I moved to the US just before attending UIUC. I am passionate about everything related to Extended Reality (Virtual Reality/ Augmented Reality/ Mixed Reality), especially its hardware and lower-level components and systems, ever since the release of the first generation of the Microsoft HoloLens. I truly believe XR is going to be a prevalent technology, if not a standard platform, in the near future!
